Jurassic Park in Bałtów
Kamienna (Stone) Valley is the location of Bałtów and its Jura Park, recreating the world of dinosaurs as they roamed the Earth 150 million years ago. It's a great place to experience adventure by the whole family.
It was the ground-breaking discovery of dinosaur fossils that contributed to the creation of the Jurassic Park, including Allosaurus, Stegosaurus and Camptosaurus bones which testify to the existence of the prehistoric reptiles in the Polish Jura region.
A visit to the park is like a journey through time spanning across the eras from the Cambrian all the way up to now. The educational foot-trail and its information boards guide you along from one life-sized reconstructed dinosaur to another. One of the biggest thrills comes from the model Seismosaurus, a Jurassic herbivore nearly 50 metres in length. Another awesome dinosaur is the Tyrannosaurus, a Cretaceous period predator, depicted attacking a herd of horned Triceratops.
The trail comes to an end at the Jurassic Museum, where exhibits include fossils, dinosaur footprints and other assorted local and foreign findings.
Right next to Jura Park is the Zwierzyniec Bałtowski (Bałtów Menagerie), stretching over 40 hectares and a home to over 30 species.
If you get tired of walking, you can always take a break in the shade surrounded by lush vegetation, near rapids and ponds. There is also an opportunity to take a short railway ride or go rafting down the Kamienna River.
